NEPW Third Annual Dinner.

December 18th, Members met at the Clacton Golf Club for our third annual Dinner. Retiring treasurer, Tanya Ware was presented with a gift in appreciation of her work over the last three years. The position of treasurer is to be taken over by Kathy Barfield.

The Streets of Colchester.

November 6th, NEPW members were asked to give guidance on taking environmental photographs to members of Colchester Residents Association. Our members took part in a workshop at the Mercury Theatre to assist some Colchester residents take photographs of their town to illustrate some of the social problems that they felt need to be addressed by the council and other organisations.

Portrait Sessions at Snappy Snaps & Goz Studios.

October 28th, Was devoted to studio portraiture. Due the size limitations at the studio, the Members split into two seperate groups. One group visited Goz Studios in Ford Rd, Clacton and the other group went to Snappy Snaps new studio facilities in Station Rd, Clacton.

Reception for Best of Tendring Competition Winners.

October 27th. The winners of the Best of Tendring Photography Competition attended a reception in the Chairmans Parlour. For presentation of the prizes and awards. See HERE for winning pictures and details.

NEPW Provide Photographs for the Wards at Clacton Hospital.

October 20th, The first selection of 30 framed photographs by NEPW members were presented to Clacton Hospital. They will be displayed in the wards of the hospital for about three months. They will then be replaced with a fresh set for another three months. The first set will then move on to Harwich Hospital for display. This will continue as an on-going programme to provide around 150 more pictures for all hospitals in the Tendring District. ICI Imagedata will be providing Inkjet paper for the prints free of charge. The frames were supplied free of charge by Snappy Snaps of Station Rd,Clacton-on-Sea. The special non-reflective glass was supplied by Hockley's Glass, Holland Rd, Holland-on-Sea.

Members Photograph Miss Anglia 2003 Contestants.

September 24th, Members Roger, Paul & Ivan attended Robert's Night Club, Colchester to photograph the contestants for the Miss East Anglia and the Miss Essex Teens contests. Despite working in difficult conditions they obtained a many good photographs of the girls in casual wear, evening dresses and swimwear.

Visit to Snappy Snaps, Clacton.

September 9th, we had an evening atSnappy Snaps, Clacton, where Alan Roast the proprietor and his staff demonstrated the latest processing equipment. Some members also used his new studio and lighting equipment, to photograph two models, Sam and Sadie. Refrehments were provided and Alan kindly developed and printed our films for us before we left.

Outdoor Portraits at Thorpe Hall, Thorpe le Soken.

August 19th, we had an evening at Thorpe Hall to Photograph Models Mark and Gemma from the Music, models, n' more Model Agency. Due to lighting conditions we divided into two groups so that everyone was able to get a fair number of shots of Mark and Gemma in the limited time available.

Outdoor Portraits at Spring Vale Gardens, St Osyth.

August 5th, we visited Spring Vale gardens at St Osyth, For an outdoor portrait session with models from the Music, models, n' more Model Agency. Members photographed models Sam and Gemma in various poses, at several locations in the extensive picturesque gardens.

NEPW Visit HMS Endeavour.

July 29th, Members visited the Sailing ship HMS Endeavour at Harwich, for a photographic assignment. They were allowed on board ship and and below decks to see the crew's living quarters and other facilities. Despite the dull wet weather they obtained some interesting pictures.

Best of Tendring Photography Contest 2003.

The NEPW are organising the Best of Tendring Photography Competition again this year. The competition is sponsored by ICI Imagedata, DFDS ferries, Snappy Snaps at Clacton, Colchester CO-OP, Clacton Gazette, and many other sponsors. he competition will run from 12th July till the 22nd September, This year there are 5 different subject categories. Sorry! Entry to the Competition is now Closed

NEPW at Tendring Show.

!2th July, Tendring Hundred Agricultural Show. A number of members manned our Exhibition stand at the show, which is staged annually near Lawford. A wide range of pictures by members were on display, ranging from portraits, landscapes, wildlife, abstract, architectural and other subjects in colour and Black & White, and in both traditional film process and digital imaging.

NEPW Visit Walton Coastguard..

8th July, we were the guests of the Coastguard at Walton on Naze There we were able to see and photograph the officers at work. They described their work in detail and showed us how the radar and communication systems operated. We were also able to see the Coastguard vehicles and rescue equipment.

Workshop Location Evenings..

During the summer we have evening location workshops to allow members to try to take creative or interesting photographs. So far this year we have visited Brightlingsea, the Haven Country Park at Clacton, and Fingringhoe Nature Reserve near Colchester. Future locations include Thorpe Park at Thorpe le Soken, Dedham, Alresford Creek, and Wivenhoe.

Clacton Amateur Operatic Society's Carousel.

In May, we were invited by Clacton Amateur Opreatic Society to photograph their latest production of 'Carousel'. The photographs were displayed in the lobby of the Princes Theatre in Clacton and members of the public and cast were able to purchase copies.

Portait & Glamour Photo Shoot..

On 4th February, several of our group visited Goz Photographic Studios in Ford Rd, Clacton, for a session of Portrait and Glamour photography. Using the two sections of the studio, we were able to work as two separate groups to photograph the two models Lisa and Jules. Members were able to experiment with various poses and lighting arrangements.

Brightlingsea School Photography Department..

21st January, saw a visit by the head of the photography department of Brightlingsea School. Using a digital projector, he explained the requirements for students in the photgraphy classes, and the range and quality of work required for the course. He also showed some excellent folios of student's work and explained how they are encouraged to produce creative work by looking at their subjects in in different ways. At the end of the evening he examined some of our work and made some interesting and constructive comments on the various images. We have been invited to visit the school at a lter date to meet the students and see more of their excellent work./a>
